History: dynamic evolution
2006
January to August: start-up of additional furnaces and
wire saws. The existing production building is now at its
limits. The nominal production capacity now
corresponds to 50 MWp per year.
In August start to build an additional plant for further
furnaces and equipment. The new building is going to be
ready in early 2007. The enlarged building gives enough
room for ramping up the production capacity up to 180 MWp
per year.
2005
In August Swiss Wafers' production volume attains 750
000 wafers per month. By the end of 2005 the production
capacity reaches approximately 26 MWp. Swiss Wafers revenue
per 31.12.2005 exceeds 34 million CHF.
In June Swiss Wafers AG signs a long-term cooperation
contract with Sunways AG (Konstanz). In the framework of
this contract Sunways AG invests into new equipment for
Swiss Wafers.
Startup of the first furnace for the growth of multicrystalline
silicon ingots in May.
2004
Establishment of long-term cooperation with potential
suppliers and customers.
Discussion
concerning future long-term cooperation of Swiss Wafers
and Motech.
In November the start up of two wire saws and a wafer
cleaning line is completed.
The revenue of the Swiss Wafers AG reaches about 9 million
CHF for the year 2004.
2003
Swiss Wafers AG is founded in Weinfelden, Switzerland
with the purpose of silicon ingot and silicon wafer production
for the photovoltaic industry.
The production building with a working area of 2000 square
meters is acquired in the town of Weinfelden, Kanton Thurgau,
Switzerland.
An adjacent site for future production plant expansion
is reserved and later acquired.
