Swiss Wafers AG can produce ingots not only from virgin
polysilicon as a raw material but also from various other
silicon materials. Most of them are byproducts from photovoltaic
or electronic ingot and wafer production:
• tops & tails
• sidewalls from monocrystalline ingot squaring
• sidewalls from multicrystalline ingot bricketing
• broken wafers, clean or dirty
• other scrap materials, broken or out-of-spec
silicon pieces
Often, these materials need special cleaning and chemical
treatment before being used in the ingot growth process.
Swiss Wafers AG has developed suitable technologies for
reusing many types of materials. This approach increases
overall efficiency of silicon usage in photovoltaic industry
– relieving the impact of the present pure silicon
shortage on the world market and paving the road to further
increase of overall photovoltaic production efficiency. |
